Split Steps and Soul Shots: A Practice to Remember

Image
🎾 The Tennis Trail — Practice Reflections: Today’s session was a gem. Played an elderly gentleman, his wisdom still sharp, his hands still steady. We worked through long rallies, short ball approach shots, and volley drills that tested both patience and precision. 🔍 What We Practiced 🧱 Long Rallies Built rhythm and endurance. Focused on depth, consistency, and mental resilience. Learned to stay neutral until the right moment to attack. “The rally is the conversation. The winner is the punctuation.” 🚀 Short Ball + Approach Shot 1. Recognize the short ball : Train your eyes to spot the opportunity early. 2. Split step timing : Land the split step just as the ball confirms its short trajectory. 3. Forward momentum : Move through the ball, not just to it. 4. Controlled aggression : Hit with intent, not desperation. “Every short ball is a question. Your approach shot is the answer.” 🕸️ Volley Practice Worked on soft hands and sharp instincts. Practiced transition...

A New Tennis Journey at Sultanpur Farmhouse

A New Tennis Journey at Sultanpur Farmhouse 🎾 This weekend marked a refreshing new experience at the Sultanpur farmhouse—a serene escape tucked away from the city buzz. The property is expansive, featuring a stunning synthetic tennis court surrounded by peaceful silence. The only sounds you hear are the rhythmic bounce of the ball and the crisp snap of the racquet—pure bliss for any tennis lover. I had the privilege of playing with the owner, who brings serious pedigree to the game. A seasoned ITF tennis player over 40, he plays with powerful topspin and effortless precision. We rallied for nearly an hour, exchanging heavy shots and intense rallies. It was an exhilarating session—one of the best I’ve had in a long time. After cooling down from the match, we headed out for some delicious chap rolls to wrap up the day. Great tennis, great food, and a peaceful setting—what more could you ask for?

Luxury in Motion: A Night of Tennis at DLF Camellias

Image
🌙 Serving Luxury: A Night on the Courts at DLF Camellias The sun had long dipped behind the skyline, but the courts at DLF Camellias shimmered under soft floodlights - like a stage waiting for its quiet performance. Tonight, it wasn’t a crowd or a tournament. Just one kid, one coach, and the rhythm of tennis echoing through still air. 🎾We began with groundstroke drills, the kind that build foundations - forehands that stretch the body into flow, single-handed backhands that whisper elegance with every extension. Each shot a brushstroke on the canvas of half courts, where control is king and footwork becomes poetry. The night deepened, and so did our session. We expanded to full courts, letting the ball travel farther, testing timing, spacing, and the art of anticipation. Around us, Camellias stood silent and regal. The luxury wasn’t loud—it was in the details the pristine surface, the ambient lighting, the quiet assurance that this space was built for excellence. 🎾...

🎾 After Hours on the Court: Exploring Tennis Nightlife in Gurgaon By day, Gurgaon pulses with corporate energy and high-octane ambition. But by night, a different rhythm takes over—one where neon lights meet the thwack of tennis balls, and the city’s courts become sanctuaries for players chasing passion after sunset. 🌙 The Rise of Night Tennis Culture In a city known for its fast pace and relentless hustle, tennis has carved out a nocturnal niche. Floodlit courts at venues like Palms Springs, Magnolias, Camellias  offer late-night slots that cater to working professionals, competitive players, and insomniac enthusiasts alike. Whether you're squeezing in a post-office rally or prepping for weekend tournaments, Gurgaon’s tennis infrastructure is built for movement—even after dark. 🏙️ Where Tennis Meets Nightlife What makes Gurgaon unique is how tennis blends seamlessly into its broader nightlife culture. A Surprising Rally at Vipul Belmonte

Image
New People new Tennis Court explored🏠🎾 Today, I visited a new location to conduct tennis classes—Vipul Belmonte, nestled along Golf Course Road in Sector 53, Gurgaon. The setting was striking: high-rise buildings encircled the area, with the tennis court tucked away at the far end of the society. It felt like a hidden gem. An elderly gentleman arrived for a hitting session. After a thorough warm-up and stretching routine, we began rallying. To my surprise, he unleashed heavy topspin forehands and crisp, flat single-handed backhands—both remarkably effective. His consistency during long rallies was impressive. What truly amazed me was his ability to handle my heavy topspin shots with ease. We rallied continuously for about 50 minutes before taking a short break. He then began serving, and I returned from the opposite end, continuing the rhythm with serve-based rallies. Throughout the session, he kept asking for feedback—wondering if his game was up to the mark. I told him honestly...

Rain Delay, Rally Replay: A Day Off Court, On Point Today, the skies over Gurugram had other plans. The courts were soaked, racquets rested, and my usual rhythm of serves and sprints gave way to something quieter—yet no less electric. With tennis off the table, I turned to the US Open 2025, and what a day to tune in.                                             🎾  The 2025 US Open: Power, Poise, and a New Era in Tennis 🌟 Men’s Singles: Sinner’s Symphony Continues Jannik Sinner was ruthless, dismantling Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets—6-1, 6-4, 6-2. Watching him move with such precision reminded me why tennis is more than just a game of power; it...

The Tennis Trail — DLF Magnolias, Gurgaon Date: Cloudy morning session ☁  Start Time: 9:10 AM 🎾 The Session Begins Under a soft grey sky at DLF Magnolias, I stepped onto one of the three synthetic courts nestled between high-rise buildings. The silence was striking—just the occasional bounce of a ball and the quiet shuffle of the ball boy. We kicked off with a brisk 15-minute warm-up: Groundstrokes (forehand, backhand, backhand slice) Volleys (forehand and backhand) Overheads (smashes) Serves The rhythm was sharp, the body responsive, but the mind hadn’t quite settled in. 🧠 The Match: A Set of Six Games The match began with turbulence. I dropped the first three games - 3–0 down, riddled with unforced errors and rushed decisions. My pace was too aggressive, my shots too loose. I felt like I was playing “underdown”—a term I use when I’m not mentally synced with the game. Then came the pivot. I slowed down. Focused on placement over power Mixed running shots...

When I started The Tennis Trail , I knew I wanted to go beyond the lines—beyond the familiar courts, routines, and expectations. What I didn’t expect was how quickly the journey would begin teaching me. My first stop was The Palm Springs Dlf Phase-V, Gurgaon a place where tennis isn’t just a sport—it’s a bridge between cultures, generations, and stories. I arrived with my racket, a few coaching plans, and an open mind. What I found was a community eager to learn, play, and connect. Coaching Highlights   - Hitting rallies with Adults - Medium to long rallies primarily hit groundstrokes from the back of the court - Physical and mental health The Court Itself The court was synthetic court surrounded by nature and buildings. Between forehands and backhands, I caught glimpses of schoolbags bouncing and leaves rustling—tennis felt like a meditation in motion.
